Lola Update

Post by Glenys »

What a lovely update:

Hi Glenys,

It is just over a week now since we adopted Lola. We can't begin to imagine how difficult it must have been for her owner to give her to Labrador Rescue. She is such a good natured dog and she has obviously been very well looked after. As you know we have changed her name to Billy as we have friends with a daughter called Lola, but both names have L sounds and she has picked it up very quickly.

Since our previous dog, Murphy, died earlier this year we have so missed having a Labrador to love and now we have one again it's just great. We live very close to a huge park and are only half an hour from the Lake District so Billy is getting out quite a bit. We can let her off the lead in the park and are working on her recall. She will mostly come straight away unless she is rushing round with doggy friends! We wouldn't dare let her off in the Lakes until she is more reliable but we are starting training classes next week!

We're both retired and are 'outdoor' types doing a lot of walking and sailing. We spend part of the year in Greece and Billy had her rabies injection last week as the first stage of getting her Pet's Passport. Fortunately she is wonderful in the car, as we drive to Greece through France and Italy, camping on the way. It's good also that she is so friendly because there are lots of stray dogs around the boatyard - our last Lab was made an honorary member of the pack and we hope Billy will be too! Because of the stray dogs Billy will need to be spayed before we sett off for Greece. Ideally the vet would like to spay her 3months after her first season. Do you have any information as to whether she has come into season already or do we have that to look forward to!!!

You said you would like a couple of photos of Billy so they are attached. We are full of admiration for the photos you take for the web site. We have taken over fifty of Billy and most have just a smudge where she should be: she is so fast!

Thank you once again for letting us adopt Lola/Billy and for all the wonderful work you and the rest of the team do at Labrador Rescue NW.

Best Wishes,

Rita and Brian Davies xx
