Hi Katie, how very moving your post was. It had me in tears. You can clearly see that you loved and gave up your beautiful Oliver as you wanted the best for him and you could not give him what he needed at this time. What a very brave and unselfish thing you did for him. Im sure his new family will love him as much as you did.
Take care

Re: Beautiful Oliver
Glenys - I hope you remember the lovely words from Katie and Louise and think about Oliver when you get those awful messages that upset you so much. This is what you are really about

Re: Beautiful Oliver
Hi Katie,
I'm Martin, and I've just been catching up on the website 'traffic'...you might recognise me better as 'Billybluemoor' on the site.
It's not often I have the time to write at any length but....
I am quite moved at this posting. I was ever so sorry to read about you having to give your beloved Oliver up.... what can I say,...you must be absolutely heartbroken !!!
And I can't thank Louise enough for putting your mind at rest,....wonderful!!!
Let me assure you Katie, the dogs only go to the very Best of homes from Labrador Rescue,...seriously, Glenys and the Team always make quite certain of that.
How do I know ? Well.... I'm a part of that Team, you might say I'm a very small cog in a very large wheel,... I've been asked by Glenys on a number of occasions to go and do what we call a 'Homecheck', that's exactly what the name implies. We have a list of criteria which must be met before a person is allowed to adopt a dog. Being a dog owner and Labrador lover for around 60 years, I also have a 'gut' instinct which is also a good guide.
As a part of our team I have personally 'Rescued' dogs from, shall we say 'unsuitable' situations, and I've 'Fostered' both poorly, and elderly dogs, and had as many as four at my house at one time because the Rescue hadn't enough space at that particular time....''great fun'' !!!
So please let me reinforce what's already been said, I know it's hard, but I can promise you that your beloved Oliver will have a wonderful life with his new owner. And don't forget the 'aftercare' !! Glenys and Kathryn are always at the other end of the phone, and our 'Rescue' website on-line community is very friendly and helpful, as you've probably already found out !!
Bye for now, and Good Luck !
