Anyway today marks 8 months since Rosie came into our lives (Rosie's original rehoming page - http://www.homealabrador.net/bb/viewtop ... =12&t=5018) What a long way Rosie has come in these last 8 months. She was a very very nervous and a scared little girl when we first met her etc and I cant go into her background too much but its fair to say she definately has some lasting mental scars, but thankfully as time goes on she is realising she can be happy. She definitely has issues with men-it took at least the best part of 4/5 months to stop barking at the men in our family! They still cant really stroke her, but when im around with her sometimes they can, so definate improvement there, usually when they try to stroke her she just gets scared and scuttles away. She barks at people who come to visit and always lets us know when someones come into our farm-shes a good guard dog! She also hates to go anywhere 'built up' - she is terrified when she goes into the village or anywhere where there are more than 1 or 2 people around, she virtually crawls on the pavement! So we stick to the quiet country lanes. So it seems Rosies past may not leave her totally. On the absolute plus side though she is fantastic with the cats which is just brilliant, it makes life so much easier to have all the cats and dog living in harmony. She is brilliant in the house, never makes a mess or eats or chews anything she shouldnt (touch wood!) She is great at night, she loves her bed and is very happy to take herself to bed and stay there all night. She has started to come into the stables with me now which she loves, its only really now that I can trust that she'll not get scared on run off. I love to see her running around and playing with her ball and having a hoolie, she looks so happy. Rosie has come such a long way and we hope as time goes on she will continue to grow in confidence.
