Hope all went well.

Hope all went well at the vets today Sue, just a few more weeks of lead walking now before Kizzy can get back to funning free.

Kizzy's had her stitches out!!!!

This is her the night before

Image

They haven't bothered her in the least, just the itching where she's been shaved.

She is not used to cars (bad experiences, being taken to strange places!) so I got in the back seat first with some small pieces of chicken and it didn't take her long to join me! Didn't want to get out at the vets, but again, the chicken enticed her. After fussing all the nurses we went out to the car and she jumped in onto the back seat without being asked and wagging her tail! She got the rest of the chicken anyway for being such a brave, clever girl.

Her stitches have healed well but there is some inflammation- they think she might have reacted to the sutures themselves, so I've to keep an eye on it. Still to take her on lead walks for another week. :2039: This is the worst part. She wants to be off running and playing with other dogs. Still boisterous around the house too. This was this morning-

She has been a little minx this week too, taking things out of the bin and ripping them to pieces, chewed up two tennis balls, a 1st edition book of Dave's that I'd borrowed :2026: Oh yes, and my slippers that I got for Christmas have been partly shredded :2039: Also if she can get hold of my pyjamas, she drags them around from room to room, laughing. Did someone ask on here if labs smile??? No, they ****** laugh !! :1967: :1968:

She loves her Kong and her pyramid and has most of her food out of these. And pigs ears she loves to distraction- that's what she's throwing around in the video!

Oh, and by the way, the separation anxiety training- I've got up to 25 secs before she starts barking. Except today, (and I didn't find this out till later...)she took some cardboard out of the recycling (just after I'd vacuumed) and I've been outside for nearly 2 minutes and she still didn't bark and I was wondering why............. :1962: :1962:

Shall keep you posted.........

Its so lovely to see Kizzy just being a happy, fun loving, young dog. Looking forward to seeing Rose and Gracie in their new forever homes so that they can go back to being "puppies" again. :love6:

You have my sympathy Sue! When Bonnie was speyed she cried for 24 hours...and so did I! I felt so guilty. Then she pulled herself together ....rest? No chance. After the first couple of days you couldn't keep her still! Like Kizzy she was a young dog and full of energy, going out into the garden for a wee she would suddenly explode! :1962:

Looks as if you are progressing with your training, it will take a time but consistancy is the answer here...and patience. She has never been on her own so it's understandable that she panics a bit. I know it feels like you've had her forever but it is a very short time. I can't believe it's only a month since Christmas! :1962:

Wonderful update Sue, what a darling Kizzy is turning out to be (not in the chewing dept though). Loved the video of her playing, daughter's lab Jess's favourite treat is a pig's ear don't they smell revolting?! Pleased to hear she jumped in the car for you too, obviously forgot for a second there with being all loved up by the nurses! Bless her.

Kizzy's a beauty. Once she gets the ok and can have good runs outside, she should settle down a lot. Pig's ear is Zac's favourite as well.

Buddie used to do all those things - and more!!! Not like his sainted brother Mij who has (according to Ky  ) never put so much as a paw wrong. I am sure Kizzy will also grow out of these behaviours too.

Buddie ate my pjs, a coat, my friend's mobile phone, numerous hats, gloves, some lovely sheep socks that I had as a pressie, Benjie's bed, my notebook with all my contacts and VERY IMPORTANT information in it....the list is never ending.

These days - at just over 2 years old he is definitely calmer and less inclined to destroy. Now he just pinches my slipper or a shoe and runs round with them. We have a round table in the dining room and if I chase his he will keep going round and round - almost layghing at me with whatever it is in his mouth. These days I walk away and he usually drops it! :thumbright:

Still can't leave food on the work surfaces though - that it TOO much of a temptation! :2008:

Everyone is right - enjoy puppy behaviour while you can - it does go so fast!

Lynne -you make Mij sound like a saint!!
He once shredded a car cleaning sponge that Geoff had left on the drive and in his excitement with the hose pipe--- water being his favourite thing you understand--he bit it hard and of course it fell into 2 pieces!!! :1966:
He has on the other hand never touched anything on the work tops but thoroughly enjoys emptying the re-cycling and bringing most of it back into the house and if he can find a sock that is treasure indeed.
He has always been more of a carrier than a chewer, I wonder what Gracie will be, Carol tells me today that she has chewed a coat sleeve!!! :2026:

Yes Gracie ate the sleeve off hubby`s coat!! She has also chewed several laces and my boots. We have now learnt to put things away. Maybe she just wants us to be tidier :1967:
