I'd say my life has changed completely . Must get out more!!

Today...we went for a walk through the woods and down by the river, as usual. She was daring herself to go in after a stick and I had my camera at the ready, started filming, she actually SWAM! for a couple of seconds (pure accident of course, she didn't realise it went a bit deeper),- and, sod's law- my battery ran out!!

I felt just like a mum who'd missed her child's first step! Shall have to make sure I recharge each evening now, just in case she decides to take the plunge again.

Oh, and I fell in love today-

This is Milo, a long-haired, 16 week old German Shepherd

I've always loved Alsatians, as my auntie had these whilst I was a child. I know it's not a lab, but you've got to admit he's beautiful!



Kizzy was really gentle with him.

A couple of days ago, in the woods, we came across a Staffie in his street cred gear (typical brash harness) with his owner. Kizzy and the Staffie had a sniff at each other, then the Staffie growled and of course Kizzy told him off. The woman started yelling at her dog, and I called Kizzy to me in a normal but firm voice (she came away). Suddenly, the woman swung round and started wagging her finger in my face, saying 'Yer don't speak to yer dog like that, yer shout and show 'em who's boss!' I just stood there, flabbergasted. 'Well' I said to Kizzy, 'that's told us!' Just couldn't believe it

Kizzy is doing so well in the water--so far the hose pipe is as brave as Grayse has got.
Some people do not deserve dogs, I hate to see the Staffys in all the harness etc some of them look like they belong on a shire horse.
So now you know, Show 'er whos boss!! and everything will be fine!!

Milo is gorgeous Sue. Don't quite know how I would have reacted to a situation like that having a finger wagged at me when it was obviously her dog who was the badly behaved one. Am not surprised you were flabbergasted I would have been too. Well done Kizzy for venturing in a bit further today!

Just a quick update.....Kizzy has stopped barking and howling when I go to the corner shop, and is sitting waiting for me when I get back....Hurray!!!

I'm going to try and leave her for longer periods. We also start KC training in two weeks, so I want to be off my crutches by then. Also want to take more photos and videos to post, but it's hard to do when you're on crutches .

She's still a dream....

I had not realised you had hurt yourself Sue, I am so sorry and hope you are feeling better.

I am so pleased Kizzy is getting over her seperation issues. She must be feeling well and truly settled and knows you are coming back.

I would like to ask you how is she with motor bikes? We were outside today sweeping the drive when a motorcycle went past very slowly, Grayse went absolutely mad,but in a fussy excited way as if she expected something or somebody.It was very strange.

I feel sure Kizzy will excel at her classes and graduate with honours.
I hope you are back to full fitness soon.

Hi Ky
The first time Kizzy heard the roar of a motorbike she was taken aback by the noise and it made her jump. I didn't notice that she was excited or fussy. She was the same when large lorries passed, she doesn't liike the size and noise.

She absolutely adores men!!!!! She totally ignores me calling her, runs to them, fussy,wagging her backside and jumping up. And of course, being men, they love being fussed over by a female

Whilst I've been on crutches, we've had an hour on the field in the morning and an hour there in the afternoon. I'm finding it boring and can't wait to get back in the woods down by the river. But Dave has been taking her a couple of times a week on very long walks 3-4 hours and she's coming back tired out, eats her tea and then curls up on the settee (where she's not allowed )and I have to sit on her to make her move!! I think somewhere along the line I've lost the plot, the battle and the war......

Hello Sue

The motor bike that got Grayse all excited was a very small one going very slowly almost like one a child would ride, we wondered if at her previous home the kids had bikes as her reaction was so odd as if she were expecting someone, it is hard to describe really.
Grayse was unsure about large vehicles but I took her everywhere with me fo the first 2 weeks and as my car is a diesel van and sounds like a lorry I think she got used to it also we have tractors passing the house a lot.

Grayse is the same with men she goes all silly and fussy she loves Geoff and our son David and if we have a male visitor then all her toys are brought to him and lots of fussing.
There is no room on our settee for Grayse as Bob and Scooby are there first(not that they are allowed on the settee you understand) on an evening she has taken to going in the kitchen on her own and getting in one of the baskets, she seems settled and the doors are open but she likes the baskets, we can hear her snoring even in the sitting room!!
Hope you are soon mobile again and can get out and about, crutches are a real pain.

Hi Kay
About to set off in half an hour for our first training session! Was going to cancel it because she's doing so well with everything. But then I thought I might learn something and it will be good for her to be amongst other dogs where she's got to listen to me and not just play. It should be fun too. Will update you this evening.

Am able to get around without crutches now, but am very slow and limp like an old woman. Am waiting for physio as it's now almost a month since the accident and I don't want to be left with a permanent limp. Also I'm missing my long walks with her. Dave has been taking her for 2-3 hour walks most days, but otherwise it's an hour morning and afternoon on the field and I'm getting bored!!!
