Well, we have had Archie's stool samples back and they were all clear. The vet isn't in a hurry to do blood tests...We are to continue with the prescription diet and fibre/probiotic supplement for a few weeks and see how he goes before considering whether to re-introduce a "normal" dog food again and if so, what. The antibiotics could still have helped things, not sure. He finished those yesterday. So it will be interesting to see how things are this week. In the meantime, his poos are the best they have ever been since he came to live with us, so something is doing the trick, just not sure what - yet!

Hi Kay
Thanks for asking about Archie. Whilst he continues to be fine in himself, his poos have gone back to being very wet and not nice at all. Vet thinks he has a bacterial overgrowth in his small intestine and has put him back on the antibiotics for another month. They did the trick last time. However, its not a great idea to be on them long term, so if it all starts again once the antibiotics have finished, he has suggested trying the Eukanuba Intestinal diet. Need to stabalise him as he has lost half a kilo in juts 5 days this week and then look at where we go from here.
Bless him, he is such a treasure and we just want to get him right.
We are so looking forward to our weekend away!

Hi Kay
He has finished his antibiotics this evening, so we have everything crossed that this has done the trick. Will let you know! If things aren't right, I imagine we will know by the end of the weekend as it was within 24 hours of stopping previous course that it all started to go wrong again.....Positive thinking xxxx
Poor chap has been through it abit of late as he has also had a nasty cut back paw. He did it while we were out walking just over 2 weeks ago and it need stitching. So numerous dressings, an infection and many trips to the vets, he is now without his dressing and can start to go for gentle walks while his pad gets back to full strength!
It all happens to Archie! Thankgoodness he is insured!
Will update you next week - hopefully with good news.

I know, bless him, its one thing after the other.
Am hoping that this weekend, we are turning the corner and can go back to being a normal, happy healthy two dog family!
Haing said that, he is always a happy fella. To say he has been restricted to the house and garden because of his paw this past two weeks, he has been brill. Felt really sorry for him as he sat by the door when its been time to take Lexi out.
The vets love him....and so they should! We have been going every three days with his paw! We got given dentistix for Lexi (hes not allowed them at the mo because of his tummy) as they said he was a "frequent flyer" !!!!!!
Not sure petplan will love me when my claims go in :thumbright: :thumbright:
