Rest in peace kalem

Post by Glenys »

Kalem was adopted by Dave & Sue 7 years ago from rescue they came back last week for max and almost returned him because they thought the cat would not get on with Max I advised them to give it time and they did and then fate took a hand poor Kalem Passed away I am sure Dave and Sue wont mind me copying their email here and also to say things always happen for a reason maybe Max was sent to help them through this sad time...................................

Please send adoption form for Max. He has settled in well and has made lots of friends with family and other dogs including with Kalem who appreciated his attention. Polly, the cat, is still a bit wary but as you say will come round and accept him.

In fact, Max is lovely natured dog and is very gentle with us. He loves company so he goes every where with us - he even sleeps quietly at the foot of our bed as he does not want to be on his own. He has become attached to the car as he knows he is going to get a walk.

Max has also been a great source of comfort during a very sad time. Unfortunatley, Kalem became seriously ill on Thursday as he collapsed and could not get up or walk unaided. We took him to the Vet who told us that Kalem had developed paralysis in his lower back and hind quarters which meant he would be unlikely to improve. He had lost all feeling and could not co-ordinate his movements.

We tried using a sling to lift him but by Saturday his movements became even more restricted as we could not even get him to stand up with sling to do his business outside - he had lost his dignity and just lay there panting and whining. So, we called the Vet who put him to sleep. We buried him in our Allotment overlooking Colne Water alongside our other two dogs and 2 cats - "R.I.P. 17th July 1996 - 26th January 2008 . Dearly Loved. Faithful Friend".

I attach a Photo of Kalem for possible inclusion in the Labrador Rescue 2008 Gallery, as we adopted him from you on 1st April 1996.

Our sadness has been cushioned by having Max to love.

Yours truly

Dave and Sue Penney

Rest in peace Kalem you lovely Boy:

So sorry to hear of your loss Dave and Sue. I am pleased you have found comfort in having Max, it must have been meant to be. Thinking of you at this sad time.

Sweet dreams beautiful boy, you are pain free now and will be running free at the bridge.
