"ANOTHER CoCo"

:hello1:

I am sure some of you probably read/saw ‘ANOTHER CoCo’ looking for her her forever home......

Posted Thursday 5th August - Another delightful girl needing a home this time choc girl aged four family dog aged four ( perfect age) lived with children and ok other dogs homing because new family cat doesn’t like her or vice versa whatever
Lovely girl reet petite make a great dog for a lucky family or owner.

Well CoCo has found her forever home and Ella has found her forever friend and mum and dad are learning how to cope 8 paws to dry!

We went and saw CoCo on Friday afternoon - Ella and her hit it off when first introduced. Ella was very excited and i think CoCo thought my goodness this is a mad one! She travelled really well in the back of the car some 50 miles to North Staffs from MKF. We stopped at Pets @ Home to purchase a temporary bed for CoCo until her new Tuffi bed arrives from Scotland to match Ella’s. We let them have a play in the garden and then it was dinner time. After that some quiet time and then it was bedtime for all of us - excellent night not a peep out of her. (or Ella) First walk went well down to the nature reserve which has a large lake and yes she is truely a labrador and was straight in the lake and swimming much to Ella’s delight.

Then we took her to a local show at Betley for the dry on Saturday so lots’ of interesting things and smells, children, horses, loads of dogs, cows, sheep, pigs al-pachas she wasn’t fazed by any of it.

Sunday, was early morning walk and quiet day at home and another evening walk where we put her on a training lead (just in case she took off) She is an obedient dog, knowing the basic commands and her recall seems good. She is very “food driven” so she has a few manners and rules to learn in that department!! but Ella is teaching her the ropes that you have to sit and and wait for your dinner and not jump up and down like you are on a pogo stick! We did leave them for 1/2 hour to walk into the village and they were both where we left them on their beds when we returned.

Monday, usual morning early morning walk (5.30) combined with Jonathan’s’ birdwatching at the nature reserve - CoCo now seems to know where we are going still kept her on the retractable lead but she is as good as gold on it. Monday tea time brought a visit to the vets - she had a problem with her ear which i noticed when we got her as she was shaking head and holding to one side but i had been cleaning it over the weekend and knew it was bad because of the smell etc. she had yelped on a few occasions when her face was touched. She was such a good girl in the vets not really stressed. My vet gave her the once over and said she was in excellent condition apart from her poorly ears which he said had been untreated for some time hence why she had such a bad infection. So she had an ear clean by the vet (and she did cry poor baby) but never once did she grumble, growl, snap or try to bite - such a lovely temperament !! She was also micro-chipped and had a booster which was lapsed - KC jab in Oct! So left the vets armed with more ear cleaner, antibiotic drops, antibiotic tablets and steroid tablet and a poorer mum LOL - worth every pound!

Early days but CoCo is settling well and is an absolutely a joy to own and is a very beautiful deep dark choc with a very glossy coat, and well behaved (apart from food issues lol) And she doesn’t bark! (Ella has never barked). I feel very lucky to have found CoCo she has a very similar temperament to Ella and im sure over the next few weeks the bond between them will grow - think they are still working out who is top lab - having said that Ella won’t let her on the sofa! But at night they both snuggle side by side on their beds.

:love3: Many thanks to MKF and Kathryn for all her advice :love3:

Early days........ but looking good, and more piccys to follow!
