Oscar update 13 September

Post by broadhorizons29 »

Hi everyone, just spreading a bit of good news. My lovely boy is back to full strength and chirpy with it! The antibiotics seem to have done the trick and although there are a few pokey bits of suture in the scar tissue, it is healing nicely. We are now up to two 30 minutes walks so he is going to keep the weight off that he has lost and of course he is much happier sniffing and nosing around rather than being in the house or garden.
I am due to speak to NW surgeons this week and will take advice when it is safe to let him off the lead. It will be gradual I know but he is now happy and such a good boy. Please pray that the surgery has been successful as I was told that it would be when he has a full life again that is the testing time. Fingers and paws crossed.
My sister in law is still in a very worrying condition but I have managed to get friends to dogsit 2 nights next week so that I can go to see her andfamily. Portsmouth is a long way but I will feel better once I have been.

So thank you to everyone sending us thoughts and healing, almost there now. My best wishes to others on here who are worrying about their pets or family it is so upsetting.

Love Lin and Oscar

Great news Lin. So glad that Oscar is on the mend. You've obviously still got worries with your sister in law, but at least you haven't any major worries with Oscar as well. You'll feel better when you've been to see her. There may not be a lot you can do, but caring enough to make the long journey will mean a lot. :love3:

Pleased to hear that Oscar is progressing nicely Lin and is happier now that he's less restricted - must be lovely for you to see. I know it's still a bit of a worry about the ultimate success but all is going well now so fingers and paws crossed for the best outcome.
Glad that you've been able to find an Oscar-sitter so that you can travel to your family, as you say you'll feel better once you have been.
Sending more positive thoughts,

So pleased to read about the lovely Oscar and sending him more positive and healing thoughts for a full recovery especially when he gets the all clear for off lead walks

I sincerely hope your sister in law progresses and begins to recover, it can be a long process, my dad was 58 when he had his stroke, he lost his speech and movement down his left side but he overcame this with lots of hard work and even went back to work. Positive and healing thoughts coming from here for your sister in law too.

Hi, as usual thank you everyone for your kind wishes and thoughts. I have just spent 3 days with my brother and family in Portsmouth following his wife's stroke. So hard, so heartbreaking. It was a massive stroke so not a good prognosis but it was lovely to get there and spend some time with them.
I have just started Oscar on his 5 mins off lead twice a day when we walk. Nerve wracking or what!! I am sure that lots of you have been there. Still, it is a tiny step forwards so gently we go.
Is there anyone on here within striking distance of Crewe that would like a new human and doggie friend as I need to get back into life and have a circle of doggie friends. All enquiries or offers considered!!! No seriously, I have let my social life go the way of all things and now feel the need to meet likeminded folk, dog lovers of course.
ANYONE OUT THERE?
Hope to hear from you all...........

Best wishes
Lin and Oscar
