Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I have been enjoying every bit of watching Poppy grow and while she has been snoozing I have been nipping round the corner to my allotment and getting it in shape as the weather has been good.
She is now eleven weeks old and we cannot believe how much she has grown, we have had her for four weeks now, it has flown by. I try to memorise what she looks like each week as well as photos, and the tiny little pup four weeks ago is now a sturdy heavy little lady that needs two hands to pick her up! The vet said she was well padded but in a good puppy-fat way! I am not surprised as she is food obsessed, watching her eat is something else and is a suprise compared to Barney who savours his food.
We took her for her first day in the outside world to Chirk Castle the weekend before last, she was so wide eyed and met pigs, ponies and chickens. The lovely woodland pigs there fascinated her. She is only having little baby walks at the moment and she definitely likes having big brother Barney at her side. She is super confident in her Poppy world of home and garden but not so much outside yet, I am sure that will come. We can barely walk a couple of metres without Poppy-admirers stopping us, people go quite gooey with lab pups!
We had a lovely visit from Linda (Mollysmum) and her beautiful girls Molly and Katie a week ago Friday, Poppy, Barney and Molly had a good romp, Katie was more ladylike and sedate and watched from the sidelines! Barney loved having a good long walk with the girls while Poppy stayed at home.
Being daft, I have already given her loads of nicknames, which Pete will be ashamed I have put on here
She is having her first trip away this weekend down to my Granny and step grandad in Somerset, they adore Barney and can't wait to meet her. My 84 year old step grandad has been very poorly and has just come out of hospital, Granny thinks seeing Poppy and Barney will perk him up no end. She is very good in the car so anticipate no problems there.
And the week after we head to Suffolk as my brother is coming home for the first time in nearly two and a half years from Australia, I am soooo excited as he is my only sibling and we are very close, I have missed him so much
She is a truly lovely little thing, so full of curiosity and mischief and she seems so happy and settled, her and Barney are now inseperable and will have a bond forever I think. We love her to bits. I will post some photos on here (or rather will get my technologically able assistant Pete to put them on
