'LADY' without 'BELLA' !

Taken this morning in the sunshine !

She certainly is a Grand Old Lady !!!

I'll bet she's been a heartbreaker in her day !!!

She doesn't seem to miss poor Bella, just as long as she's got Billy in her sights.
I suppose Billy could be a sustitute. The main thing is that she seems to be doing OK !!

I'm very pleased with Lady's progress... more of a transformation really.
She appears to have developed a personality of her own now that she is not dominated by Bella. We've just come back from the park where she was running and jumping for joy, it's a real pleasure to see her emerging from her submissiveness and into a character of her own.
I've started to give her 'Previcox' for her arthritis and it seems to be working well, she can't wait to be the first one to dive in the back of the car, and since she's been on them she can now run. She's getting more like an old puppy every day.
Her eye problem has also cleared up, thanks to the Vet, although she will never be free from some inflammation, but the eye drops have worked their magic, and as you can probably tell from the photo's, it's a big improvement.
She is also quite deaf and can't hear me shout or whistle, so I rely on her keeping an eye on Billy and following him, which works ok unless Billy decides to disappear on a 'food scent'!!
So it's good news at present, I just hope she can maintain this level of good health for some time to come, but there again, my Vet says she is probably about 14years old so anything could happen.
I'm quite optimistic though...we've booked a cottage for a week in the summer that accepts 2 dogs !!
If I aquire any more in the meantime I will just have to book 2 cottages !! :D

That's wonderful news Martin. She looks full of the joys of spring and very happy.

Great news Martin you often find that when you get either 2 girls or 2 boys together 1 will always be the more dominant and when the dominant one has gone the other ones personality comes out, that is why we prefer male/female combo...hope you enjoy your holiday, anywhere nice Martin??

Martin this happens such a lot I think pairs of dogs are lovely but often one of the pair misses out as the other dominates them.
We have no hesitation of splitting dogs up if we feel one will fare better without the other.
You will find that both dogs seem to bloom in a different atmosphere when the other goes.
We had two dogs brought in once (just one example) and the male thought it was his lifes work to protect the female the owner said they couldnt be parted but after a short time here and as we studdied the two we realised the female was not happy,we let her out on her own and then with our dogs the male going beserk at the female having the gall to enjoy herslef in other company.
We homed the female and when she was out of the equation the male settled down lets say he stood down from attention,he always being on duty guarding his bird :) he too changed personality and began to enjoy life more.
Over the years we have found it isnt always a good thing to keep pairs of sisters.brothers etc...

I am sure they were happy before but now Lady has her special time with her new man Billy

Thanks for the benefit of yours and Glenys's experience regarding the pairing up of dogs. I'm glad it tallies with my newfound experience.

We're going to Caernarvon where I have some relatives ,and it's handy for the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey. In the past we have took Billy to various parts of Wales, Scotland, Northumberland, Pembrokeshire and several other places of interest. Each year we try to have one 'Doggy' holiday in a cottage and another 'sunshine' one somewhere abroad, usually the Canaries. Finances permitting of course !! :)
